I cant believe its that time of the year again!!! I am soo excited to tell you guys that I am participating in this year Fall 2022 – ORC challenge!! Hooray!!! as guest participant. And I will be making over my Living Room. It is in a terrible need of attention.

One Room Challenge

If you don’t know about this bi-annual design event it’s basically a community based design event where all participants have to finish one room in 8 weeks and share weekly updates. Its not a competition but a challenge designed to motivate each other in order to accomplish a task.

I got my first ever home in 2021. I live in California, so my house costed an arm and a leg.!!! so I never got the chance to update my furniture or do anything fun in my home except for Sunroom painting, Bathroom transformation and an hallway accent wall. OMG!!! now that I am writing, I did do a lot in my home. Please check out my Instagram for the updates on my DIYs.

Living Room Before:

Please don’t hate me for having a cardboard boxes in my living room. Saying its a HOT MESS is “understatement”.

My Plan and Inspiration.

Lets first see practical functionality of this room. This is the most used room in our home and we always entertain guest in this room. So I need cozy place but lot of different seating options. We lack storage, so that’s a must to create some sort of storage. place to display my plant and pictures. I have ton and this house is not built for it.

Now we knocked that one out, lets jump in to the actual details of design. I want to bring layers, depth and character to the room. I am going to use different textures on the wall like floor to ceiling trim more like fluted trim. some built in storage. May be an Ikea hack.

For some reason I hate just one wall being the attention or the concept of accent wall. (Ill be going to online hell for saying this) so I am just going to make all wall with some sort of details/ accent wall as the world calls it.

I am doing most of the things for the first time and completely out of my comfort zone. So please follow along in this journey with me to provide confidence and support.
