Baby Monthly Photoshoot – Part I

Even though Saathvik was not a big smiley boy during his first few months, soon he turned out to be a big, bubbly, and smiley boy. One way I wanted to preserve his childhood memories is to take as many pictures as possible every single day but also made it much more special by doing a monthly photoshoot. So now looking back at the pictures makes me wonder how that sweet, tiny, little, smiley, and beautiful newborn baby turned into this wiggly, cheerful, but monstrous toddler.

It’s always a beautiful journey for the parents to go down the memory lane of their kids growing up. Because I do know the days looks longer, but years are too short, and please don’t blink they just grow up so fast

Anyway, hope these pictures will put a smile on your face and encourage you to take pictures of your babies too. Here are few tips and tricks so that you can succeed in your photoshoot venture.

In order to succeed in taking the picture, the key element is planning and research. These are the steps I have followed and trust me I have learned it the hard way. These steps will help you pull off an amazing photos without making you and your baby cranky.

  1. Select a theme
    • I didn’t do much of the research in this department. My sister-in-law did her son’s photoshoot and I kinda borrowed her DIY theme and also my goal was to complete the theme with the props that are already available in my home.
    • You can use the themes that I have used or please do your research (Pinterest has an amazing variety of materials)
  2. Identify the best time to do an actual photoshoot
    • Breaking News- It changes every single month. So as baby grows up, you have to figure out the happiest time of the day.
    • I always do it right after nap time and a perfectly fed baby is a happy baby.
  3. Get the backdrop or scene ready before the baby wakes up.
    • Like I said in the first step. Do your research on the theme and get it ready.
    • For me setting up the theme took from 20 to 1 hr times. So it’s an absolute necessity that you set the backdrop up and ready to shoot as soon as the baby wakes.
  4. Check lighting and shoot a couple of pictures to make sure that the theme reflects what you had in mind. (I always use a platform like a chair) Check if anyone else actually identifies the theme correctly. I use my husband as the guinea pig for most situations. So I usually ask him if he can recognize it.
  5. The final step, take pictures. I usually mark the spot and take pictures as soon as I place him there. You need to be fast and take plenty of pictures and you will not have time to check the pictures so take tons of pictures and you may get 2 or 3 good ones.

So there you have it. Happy clicking !!! Don’t forget to check out Saathvik pictures below.

First Month – Line Dry

Second Month – Valentine

Third Month – Surfing on the beach

I love but hate this month photoshoot. I totally forgot to turn on the lights at all for this photoshoot. I didn’t even realize it until its too late and i couldn’t do it again. So I had to resort to heavy photo editing technique. But still i feel this looks very bad.

Fourth Month – Train

I loved this photoshoot since I have too many memories attached to it. First, this was the start of the pandemic and so toilet papers were scarce, so if you look at the engine it is missing wheels and that’s the reason behind it. Also this was the month he started smiling beautifully when he sees me. Look at the cutesy smile here… My bro Viki would call it “cheeky smile.”

Fifth Month – Tree swing

Can you believe it that I didn’t even edit the below picture. I just loved the RAW picture and kept it as is.

Part II with rest of the pictures coming up soon.!!!
