DIY Fluted Media Wall
I have spent an significant amount of time in designing the Media Wall. But first part is realization of what I want from that Media wall. That’s where the actual design starts.
I will tell you ton of my own favorite design idea that you can incorporate in your home!!!
In this post, I will share you all my design trip & tricks to help you design your own home!!!! to be precise Media Wall!!
I started from choosing the right color paint to lighting to décor to furnishing!!! I will also throw all my 2 cents in every topic.
This is the most easy media wall with not much of a structural build but it pushed my limit and I have done so many variety of new DIY such as “Floating Shelf”, “No wiring Sconce installation” to name a few and despite few set backs and mistakes. I would say this wall turned out pretty great.
If you are new here. Hurray!!! welcome and if you are looking for a designing a space and looking for ideas. You are in the right place.
I considered function and then aesthetics. It was always function over aesthetics for me. This means I want the Media wall where I can hang TV creating a moody theatre look with sconces on both sides. Finally a place to decorate during holiday season, Diya during Diwali, Pongal mango leaf thoranam, Halloween decorations and finally Christmas décor.
So those were my requirements and that’s my starting point. But overall you need to decide and think about each design elements and the overall elements and how it all speak to each other.
First step. I needed to choose the color. Black being one of my favorite color, I jumped straight head first. But my hubby put his foot down and said “NO BLACK PAINT” so I did the next obvious thing, research. First I thought about Green “DARK GREEN” but then I thought lets do the “BLUE” which will be a perfect match against that “Mustard Yellow” Ottoman. Yes I chose Blue because its my second favorite color and it matched with my ottoman of choice 😉 I am crazy like that.
Then second thing I chose was the TV backdrop wall paper and then finally all things fell in place and I had the Mood board. Yes, I still have the black paint in my mood board. I thought I could convince my husband!!! I lost this war!!!
List of DIY’s to bring this Mood Board to Life
- Fluted TV wall
- Wallpapered TV backdrop
- Floating shelf
Then with months planning and 2 weeks of work. we got the final product. Look at the yellow pop with blue backdrop. Isn’t beautiful?

Décor Tips
I wanted Coziness, Liveliness, pop of color and details in my décor and I chose key elements to bring in coziness using the Lamp, sconce, & basket with throw. Plants for liveliness and used the contrast color ottoman for the pop of color. Finishing touches with small puzzle, books and brass display piece for the details.
